Your Questions, Answered
Logistics and Planning
-
I schedule a planning call with the event coordinator in advance. A run order or schedule is requested ahead of time, and communication during the event can happen via phone or radio.
-
I'm reachable by cell phone throughout the event. If your venue uses radios or headsets, I'm happy to be added to your communication system for immediate coordination with stage managers.
-
Setup timing is coordinated based on venue access and event schedule. I remain on-site for the full duration of the contracted hours whether that’s through curtain call or the final costume change.
-
Multi-day events and dress rehearsals are welcome. If the studio can remain set up securely overnight, no additional setup fee applies. If teardown and reinstallation are required, a setup fee applies for each load-in.
-
Yes. For co-hosted events, billing can be divided and multiple invoices issued, provided all parties agree to the contract terms.
-
I coordinate my meal breaks during slower periods based on your performance schedule (lunch breaks, judge deliberations, etc.). Billing continues during breaks to ensure I'm immediately available if an urgent need arises. We'll discuss your event flow during our planning call to identify the best break times.
Service Scope
-
Yes! Mobile Studio is designed for high-volume events. During our planning call, we'll discuss your costume count and performance schedule. If your event requires additional support, I can recommend bringing a qualified assistant at an additional hourly rate.
As the former wardrobe supervisor for the largest touring show in North America and regularly overseeing over 10,000 costume pieces. I feel confident. -
This depends on the repairs needed. For quick fixes such as straps, hooks, or steaming, I typically assist 10–15 performers per hour. For complex quick-change support, I work with your team in advance to create a specific plan.
-
Yes. If your event requires wing-side support for rapid costume changes, we can coordinate that in advance. My primary station is the Mobile Studio, but I can move to assist with time-critical changes as needed.
-
Urgent, stage-critical needs are always prioritized based on performance times. I work efficiently to assist many performers throughout the day. During our planning call, we'll discuss your competition schedule so I can prepare for peak volume periods.
-
My focus is on stability, function, and stage-readiness. I can resolve most wardrobe emergencies so the show proceeds smoothly. Permanent resizing or redesigns are not performed in a backstage environment.
-
If a repair cannot be completed safely or securely for performance, I will communicate immediately with the director or organizer. I'll work closely with your team to find the best solution, with final decisions made collaboratively with event leadership.
Experience and Approach
-
Yes. I have extensive experience supporting performers of all ages, body types, and comfort levels. My goal is always to meet performers where they are and help them feel confident and supported.
-
Yes. A significant portion of my career has been spent supporting highly athletic, movement-intensive productions. I’ve worked extensively with stretch fabrics for ice shows, dance-heavy performances, and touring stunt shows where durability and freedom of movement are critical. I also spent time in the costume shop for Ringling Bros. Circus, where precision stretch construction and reinforcement were essential. I’m very comfortable sewing and repairing stretch garments in a way that preserves both mobility and performer safety.
